Improving Your Brain… Improving Your Life

NeuroTherapy, Part 1: Improving Your Brain… Improving Your Life (continued)

Improving Life’s Problems

It is scientifically established that certain illnesses and conditions generate distinctive brain wave patterns.

Neurofeedback has been shown to correct these abnormal brain waves, thus diminishing or even eliminating the problems.

When having a mental/emotional problem, always do an EEG Brain Map followed by Neurofeedback sessions.

Neurofeedback Improves:

There are many conditions, and the following are but a few of them, that are helped by the use of Neurofeedback.

  • Attention
  • Impulsivity
  • Distractibility
  • Hyperactivity
  • Dyslexia
  • Reading Difficulties
  • Math Disabilities
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorders
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Language Comprehension
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Tourettes
  • Memory
  • Expressive Speech
  • Auditory Processing
  • Sleep Disorders
  • Social Discomfort

Neurological Improvements for “Age Related” Problems

As can be seen above, there are numerous conditions that can be improved with Neurofeedback sessions for Changing and Re-Training the brain.

Now to address the problems that elderly people have with memory.

We turn to the areas of how the brain works in regard to the many conditions experienced by seniors.

People refer to the problems that people have as they mature and start to have problems as “age-related” conditions.

Some of these are states of confusion, loss of items, of not knowing where they put things, and not knowing how to do things that they used to do so very easily.  These progress up to the time that they don’t know or recognize their own spouse or loved ones.

All of this is in a progressive state that continually moves forward in ever worsening conditions, until the time that they need to move in with family members, or have a care giver, or even move to an Assisted Living Center.

Brain Brightening for the Elderly

There are numerous neurological issues that can be improved upon through Neurofeedback therapy, including the anxiety-depression spectrum, behavioral disorders, emotional disturbances, strokes and brain injuries, as well as the slowing of the brain with other memory related conditions.

Thousands of doctors, psychiatrists and psychologists, have been amazed by the success that Neurofeedback has achieved in improving peoples lives, and have since made Neurofeedback a part of the treatment for their patients.

Neurofeedback therapy is completely safe, pain-free, and does not have negative side effects.

Frank H. Duffy, M.D.,   A Professor and Neurologist from Harvard Medical School wrote about his research, and stated in the journal Clinical Electroencephalography that,

Neurofeedback “should play a major therapeutic role in many difficult areas” of psychiatric problems. Such as:

MOOD DISORDERS – “Using Neurofeedback to retrain the brain corrects depression, as well as producing a brain state that is less vulnerable to depression.” –Drs. Baehrs & Rosenfeld, Northwestern University

BRAIN BRIGHTENING – All Seniors can improve their mental abilities with Neurofeedback with the processes of Brain Brightening and greatly benefit from doing the Neurofeedback sessions. “The Neurofeedback process of reducing slow waves enhances cognitive processing.” –  Dr. Thomas Budzynski, Professor at the University of Washington and winner of the Life Time Achievement Award from the International Society of Neuronal Regulation.

BRAIN INJURY & STROKES – “Patients can be taught to promote normal functioning in the brain by normalizing dysfunctional brain wave patterns.” -Dr. Jacques Duff in Clinical EEG and Neuroscience.

COGNITIVE DEFICITS, SENILITY, and DEMENTIA“Loss of memory, inability to recall, and confusion, are classic signs of problems with slow brain waves.” Dr. Thomas Budzynski, Professor at the University of Washington

There are many years of research that have gone into the study of how to make changes to and improve the minds and conditions of the brain.  This is reflected in the methods that are currently being used to improve the Quality of Life of the Elderly

Neurofeedback is well documented in the research as a method of improving the neurological conditions of those who have serious conditions.

Such areas as stokes can often disable a person and cause conditions relevant to memory loss and related areas of the ever increasing problems of the elderly.

However, conditions of strokes and other brain injury related conditions, are able to be improved with Neurofeedback.

With problems of memory,  the first line of improvement is the work of Neurofeedback sessions for brain improvement.

The first step is to obtain an EEG Brain Map as the first line of assessment, followed by the necessary protocols of doing Neurofeedback sessions to increase the functioning of the brain.

Improving Intelligence With Neurofeedback

As Recorded in IQ Scores

An important point to be made in reviewing the many accomplishments of Neurofeedback is that relating to intelligence.

Research shows that a side benefit of the Neurofeedback training and improving of the brain turns out to be that of measurable intelligence, as measured by IQ testing.

After doing Neurofeedback sessions, IQ scores show improved and higher ratings of IQ scores.

Of course everyone wants a higher rating in IQ, and the achievement of this with Neurofeedback is demonstrated by the IQ assessment testing and evaluations rating findings from research.

Dr. Joel Lubar, Professor and Neurofeedback Research Scientist, states that, “Neurofeedback increases mood stability, memory, and IQ scores.”

Research projects, including those from the following of Charier & Kelly, Unden et al., and Lubar et al. show increased IQ Test Scores from 8 to 20 points in verbal and performance test scores after doing Neurofeedback.

The following is a chart from research projects representing increased IQ performance.

A Summary of Information

On Neurofeedback for Seniors

As can be seen in the above information, Neurofeedback can improve the brain by improving the person’s brain waves.  There are numerous ways of doing this, and for any number of varying conditions.

The solutions vary only according to the problem conditions that each person is experiencing, as each brain is unique in itself.

The EEG Neurofeedback therapy changes and improves the individual’s personal problems, and this improves their lives.

As can be seen in many other places in this web site,  there are many conditions that cause a loss of memory to occur.  It is the medical condition that must be treated with a program by Memory Care of Arizona.

Finding out which one of the conditions is the actual cause enables the therapist to correctly choose the right therapeutic protocol of treatment, and this always entails the use of Neurofeedback to improve the brain and the memory.
